Church Information

Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here for many years, and are looking to get involved in your local church, we warmly welcome you.

We're a lively Anglican Parish consisting of two churches, St. Martin's at Blackheath and St. John's at Wonersh. We offer a range of services from contemporary to more traditional. Kids Church runs at St. John's at 10am each Sunday except the first one of the month, when we have our All Age service.

Further details about services at both our churches can be found here

St Martin's Blackheath

St. Martin's church was built in 1893 based upon the design of an Italian wayside chapel, and is named after St. Martin's Canterbury. The church is well known for its striking wall paintings, which were painted in 1894-95 by Anna Lea Merritt, an American artist. The paintings are in a style used by Pre-Raphaelite painters of the day.

St. Martin's Church, Blackheath was re-joined with the Parish of Wonersh in 1998, and shares its Vicar and Ministry team with St. John's, Wonersh. St. Martin's has stood at the heart of Blackheath village for 125 years and it seeks to serve and support the community of Blackheath through prayer and in practical ways.

The church address is: St Martin's Church, Blackheath Lane, Blackheath, Guildford, GU4 8QT.
