Lent Book Group

The period known as Lent allows the Christian Calendar to pause, reflect upon the coming Holy Week and to seek forgiveness and renewal.  During this time, we have the opportunity to suspend regular Home Group meetings and provide an opportunity to study and share in a different way.

Marion will be leading a Book Club at the vicarage, looking at three secular books but with spiritual and life learnings.  As this will need everyone participating to have read the books, I thought that I would let you know now so that you can read them in advance.  The sessions themselves will be easy discussions on what the book meant to you and what you gained from it, focused on specific areas.  A note to bear in mind is that the books do include themes of loss, disappointment and isolation.

I have set out the evening dates below but if there is a strong appeal for a day time group as well, we shall see what we can do.

Dates are as follows:

1. Tuesday 8 March 7.30 to 9.00pm
Book: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Area of exploration - who is my neighbour?

2. Tuesday 22 March 7.30 to 9.00pm
Book: Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers
Area of exploration - Am I living a limited life or is there more potential?

3. Tuesday 5 April 7.30 to 9.00pm
Book: The Song for Issy Bradley by Carys Bray
Area of exploration - How can we develop faith in the hard times?

If you are interested in joining the group, please respond to Rev. David Peters (vicar@wonershchurch.org.uk)
